T-Mobile announced the first Android-powered phone today. You can watch the press-conference here.

Food Trip (!) to North Ireland

…A group of 7 people visited North-Ireland this weekend, which probably led  a few % increase on the population over there…

That was my first trip to outside of Dublin which was truly fabulous! We rented a cottage beside the Atlantic Ocean. Luckily and surprisingly weather joined us with sun.  And another point which makes that trip so special is the frequency of our eating activities. Eating the first thing we did in any place we visited and the whole trip turned out to be a real food trip.

iPhone 3G, finally

Thanks to  O2 representative  I talked at the begining of this week,  I woke up so early today (which is famous for being SaturdaY :) ) , cycled to the O2 Experience on Henry Street and finally found an iPhone which was waiting its lucky and patient customer. It took me like 20 minutes to purchase it, since I had to provide a proof of address, a bank account and sign few contracts. After taking the SIM Card out, I threw my lovely Nokia to the “Mobile Phone Recycling Box” and the represntative  ( she was so kind btw :) ) told me that I am the first customer who used that box.

My first impressions are pretty positive, I loved how easy it is to navigate and how smart the interface is. Google Maps is even cooler when you are mobile. Thanks to 3G coverage O2 provides, Youtube experience is so smooth :) I’ll write here again as I use that phone more.

TechCrunch 50 Conference – 2008

TC 50 Conference which was held at the begining of this week in SF was streaming live broadcast on Ustream.Tv this year and thanks to time zone differences with US, I was able to watch almost all the sessions live. To be honest, I have to admit that I am not satisfied with the startup presentations ( easy to say :) ) at all.  Most of them were kinda hybrid of other existing services and the rest didn’t have any wow effect on me neither. Maybe its just because of the “perception=actual-expectation” rule which leads a negative perception due to very high expectations on that particular case .  I liked one of them though :) Swype which is a text input technology is pretty cool. The panels were more than great; they had such a valuable content for potential/present entrepreneurs. The panel called “The Role of Angel Investor” and “Youth and Culture” session on which Marissa Mayer from Google was one of the expert panelists, are strongly recommended!

Rhodes!

I had a 2 days trip to Rhodes, Greece last week and have to admit that I wasn’t expecting that much fun! First of all, again realised that,  I love everything that has even slightly ties to mediterranean culture. Sun, beach, food ( familiar :P ) and great people. It’s my first time in Greece hopefully won’t be the last. If you’re one of those who like nature and chaos together, then you’ll love Rhodes! Fabulous people!

Real Time World Statistcs, Worldometers.info

Worldometers.info is a web service of which main goal is making world statistics available in a time-relevant format. I liked the way they present those stats since time relevant information enables you to compare speed with the scales you know which makes it easier to have a more accurate perception on those huge numbers.

Rain!

Unlike most of my friends, I (used to) like rain a lot, but after living in Ireland for 3 months, it totally changed. Actually, the amount of rainfall we have in Ireland is not as much as it is perceived. It is STILL a lot but I think what makes Ireland so special is the high frequency of daily changes. Anyway, I’m glad that we will have less rainfall than Istanbul in the winter.

Seth Godin : “All Marketers are Liars”

Seth Godin is someone that you should spend some time with if you want to think different than others. If you believe that you already can do so, then think again after watching the video below :) I strongly recommend you to have a look at Seth’s books, blog and videos, if you haven’t done yet.

Irish Style!

__ I love Istanbul, it still is the best city I’ve ever lived in but day-by-day I desperately get used _to Dublin and have to admit that Irish folks are extremely friendly. Moreover, they have such great songs ;)

“Mac vs PC”

I’m about to buy a new laptop soon and just couldn’t decide what to buy yet. Main decision parameters will be: mobility, usability and cost for sure. I’m basically looking for an Internet machine mostly just to browse web . Here are the lucky (!) candidates:

_MacBook Air _______Sony TZ Series

The series of Mac vs PC commercials just made it harder to decide. All suggestions are welcome.
